De Vegetarische Toko
The Vegetarian Toko is a family run Indonesian eatery in The Hague that offers a fully vegan menu while keeping Vegetarian in its name to remain accessible to a broad audience. The toko emerged during the COVID 19 pandemic and is led by a close knit team consisting of a son his mother and his uncle. Together they combine resilience ambition and a strong family spirit with a constant drive to innovate.
Staying grounded
Our task was to develop a visual identity that genuinely reflected their journey and future ambitions. The design needed to match their current phase of growth ambitious yet grounded without becoming overly polished or disconnected from their roots.
Batik Parang
The new identity is inspired by Batik Parang a traditional Indonesian wave pattern that symbolizes perseverance and resilience and mirrors the challenges they have overcome. By incorporating these patterns we added cultural depth while visually anchoring their story of strength in the face of adversity.
A key element of the original identity was preserved by retaining the illustration from the old logo created by Lisanne ’t Hart and Maura Verkleij. This creates a strong sense of continuity connecting their origins with their evolving brand while honoring their artistic heritage.
