Back-end Developer and colleague

At JUST we build digital products that need to work. Reliable, secure and logical. That requires people who are sharp, stay curious and enjoy unraveling technical challenges.
We are looking for a back end developer who enjoys diving deep into systems, sees connections and takes responsibility for what he or she builds. You will work on both existing projects that have been running for years and new digital products. This means that sometimes you work within a familiar stack and sometimes you build something that is still in development.
What we create
We develop websites and applications that are used intensively and built to last. Some of them have been running on our existing infrastructure for quite some time, while others are built with new technologies. Users expect everything to run smoothly and that requires careful engineering, also behind the scenes.
For our new projects we use a combination of PHP, Laravel with Statamic as the content management system and MySQL for data storage. This application is set up as a headless content management system for a Nuxt JS frontend.
Our earlier projects were built using a range of technologies:
- Kirby CMS
- Laravel with Filament
- Laravel with a custom content management system
- Symfony with a custom content management system
For data management you can expect to work with both file based systems and MySQL databases.
We have set up deployments through our continuous integration in GitLab. Within this setup we use DeployerPHP for zero downtime deployments. On our modern production environments we configure servers with Ansible. This is done in collaboration with our hosting partner. Knowledge of Ansible is not required but is considered a plus.
To maintain control over the codebase we use the gitflow methodology.
Many of our earlier projects were built in PHP with Kirby CMS or Laravel, connected to MySQL. We manage the infrastructure ourselves using Git, GitLab CI, Docker and Ansible.
At the same time, in our new projects we use modern frontend and content management system solutions such as Statamic, Nuxt and Vue. You will therefore work with different generations of technology and learn how to switch between them in a smart way.
About you
Who you are
- You do not have to know everything yet, but you do enjoy figuring things out. You do not panic when something does not work right away and you get satisfaction from finding a good solution.
- You work with PHP and understand how back ends are structured
Experience with Kirby and or Laravel is a plus
Interest in or experience with Statamic, Nuxt or Vue is welcome - You are at junior or medior level
- You think in terms of solutions and work carefully
- You can easily switch between different tasks
- You communicate clearly with colleagues and clients
What you will do
- You collaborate with designers, project managers and developers on a wide range of projects
- You develop and maintain back ends and content management system structures for existing platforms
- You contribute to new projects in which we use different technologies
- You dive into existing code and improve it where needed
- You think along about how systems can become more stable and future proof
- You build long term client relationships where your work continues to perform for years
- You get the space to contribute ideas about topics such as performance, accessibility, search engine optimization or new technologies
Our clients include Jantje Beton, JOGG, Giro555, Literatuurmuseum, Kunstmuseum Den Haag, Paleis Het Loo, 113, COC Nederland and Simavi.
