Deserved, Unrecognized
Literature / Children’s Book Museum
In a world where literary recognition has historically been unevenly distributed, the Literature / Children’s Book Museum brings attention to the overlooked contributions of female writers from the past. Through an online exhibition, the museum showcases the stories and legacies of these often-forgotten authors.
Immortalized in sculptures
To give shape to this concept, we took inspiration from the tradition of immortalizing important figures in history through sculpture. Utilizing archival photographs, a 3D sculptor meticulously crafted the busts of five of the women who could have been recipients of the P.C. Hooft Prize. In the design of the online exhibition, these 3D sculptures take centre stage, captivating visitors and drawing them into the stories of these often underappreciated writers. Furthermore, these sculptures extend beyond the digital realm, as they are also available for viewing in the physical museum exhibition.
